SEYWAC Takes Information Technology to Farmers' Doorsteps

Social Empowerment of Youth Women and Children (SEYWAC) is delighted to announce its implementation of eSagu - an ICT based personalized agri-advisory system in five villages in Nizamabad district.

Villages near Kamareddy --Adloor, Rangampet, Posanipet, Gargul and Israjiwadi  were selected to carry out the second phase of eSagu. A new feature in e-Sagu where a farmer can get advise regarding the crop cultivation from expert within a few hours. Farmers of all these five villages will have an access to agricultural scientists located in IIIT Hyderabad.

Using internet, mobile phones and, web based technologies farmers will be able to reach scientists through a coordinator, who is trained in using computer and internet technologies.

SEYWAC is determined to bridge the digital divide in the rural India and improve farm productivity and farmers' profitability by educating scientific farming practices and providing risk-management education.

Your support to this cause is very important.

How it Works:

Farmers are enrolled in the eSagu program for villages. Trained coordinators, educated youth equipped with digital cameras, will visit individual farms, with unique identification numbers, assigned to them regularly and take photographs of the status.

These photographs along with a format comprising several aspects like whether the previous advises were followed would be sent to the central lab located at IIIT here.

Once the analysis of photographs is completed, expert advise for the particular farm would be sent to coordinators through SMS.
Remotely-located farmers thus get real time access to expert professional help, which helps them save their crops.
