NASSCOM Foundation winners announced

At the recently held CSR Conclave (11th Feb 2010), NASSCOM Foundation had a contest wherein the winners could choose their favorite NGO and BiGTech would provide them software donations. 

We are glad to announce that the following have been selected as the three individual winners 

  • Nirav Sanghvi (BlogAdda)
  • Noshir Kaka (McKinsey)
  • Paritosh Sharma  (Until ROI)

Mr. Paritosh Sharma has decided to gift the same to Institute for the Handicapped and Backward People. They run an Institute for the Handicapped from the year 2001 for various type of Hearing Impaired, Mentally Challenged, Cerebral Palsy and multiple disabilities in the Kolkata city and Surrounded district. They provide free Education, Vocational Training, and Rehabilitation and manpower development training in the Rural & Urban sector in India. For more details check http://www.ihbp.org

Mr. Noshir Kaka selected IIMPACT, which motivates non school going girls between the age of 6 and 14 from economically and socially backward rural areas of India and puts them firmly on the track of literacy through quality primary education. View details at http://www.iimpact.net

Mr. Nirav Sanghavi has suggested two NGOs who would receive software donations of Rs. 20,000 each. Hamara Footpath works with street kids and their families in the Churchgate area of Mumbai. 8-Day Academy is an initiative under Amana Educational & Welfare Society (registered in Sikar, Rajasthan), where 8DA graduates run a night school for street kids – mainly young boys who work as labourers and have never been to a ‘real school’. A team of 4 were sent to IIT-Bombay to train on Computers and open-source programming. The boys are now teaching what they’ve learnt to their friends. The software will help run these educational programs.

The donation would be made via http://www.BiGTech.in – NASSCOM Foundation’s key technology philanthropy programme. The NGOs, once they they register with us, will soon receive the applicable software products.
